Overnight Newborn Care
St. Petersburg Postpartum Doula & Newborn Care Specialist Services
Professional and experienced overnight newborn care for your growing Tampa family.
Overnight care is provided in 9–12 hour shifts, typically between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. During this time, I will care for your baby throughout the night—handling feedings, burping, changing, soothing, and baby-related tasks—so you can get the uninterrupted rest you need. Care can begin as soon as the first night you bring your baby home from the hospital and continue through the first 12-16 weeks, or longer if desired.
Sunshine City Doula offers overnight newborn care every night of the week, with flexible scheduling for families who need just a few nights of care per week. A 9-hour minimum shift is required and rates begin at $40/hour for a singleton.
Expert care for your newborn, peace of mind for you.

A standard service agreement and retainer are both required when booking overnight newborn care services.
Once there is a mutual agreement to move forward, I will send you a copy of my standard contract to review, sign, and return to me. The contract outlines all of my expected duties, the agreed-upon work schedule, the length of the contract, my retainer fee, and payment options.
A percentage of the contract will be charged upfront as a retainer to book my availability. The retainer fee varies by case and will be applied to the back end of our contract. A signed contract between us and paid retainer assures my availability to your family for the duration of the agreed-upon work schedule.
Overnight Newborn Care = Support for You AND Your Baby
Feeding Support
Feeding an infant can sometimes be a bit more complicated than imagined.
Whether you're breastfeeding, bottle feeding, exclusively pumping, combo feeding, or navigating formula options, I’m here to support you however you choose to feed your baby. I offer practical support with latch, positioning, pump routines, bottle introductions, milk storage, and formula transitions. I also help troubleshoot common issues such as reflux, gas, bottle refusal, feeding aversion, weight gain issues, and more.
Sleep Shaping & Routine Establishment
I help lay the groundwork for healthy sleep by introducing gentle, developmentally appropriate routines that encourage longer stretches of sleep over time. This includes creating a consistent nighttime routine, establishing healthy feeding & sleep habits, and creating an optimal sleep environment that fosters healthy sleep from the start—giving your baby the tools to gradually build a strong foundation and set them up for long-term sleep success. All without the use of harsh techniques that can be detrimental to an infant’s well-being and development.
Parent Education
Bringing home a new baby often comes with endless questions and uncertainty. I offer practical instruction and expert guidance on newborn care from interpreting baby’s cues, guidance on feeding methods, to how to hold, burp, or swaddle your baby, to infant safety guidance, product recommendations, and local specialist referrals. My goal is to equip parents with the knowledge and reassurance to feel confident and fully supported.

OVERNIGHT NEWBORN CARE SPECIALIST SERVICES IN TAMPA BAY
In-home support for overnight newborn care starts at $40 per hour. Your first step to planning overnight support is filling out an inquiry form.

Families typically book a Newborn Care Specialist or Postpartum Doula for the first 4 months following birth, but some choose to have one for only a short period of time, such as 2-4 weeks to get acclimated. Often families seek to extend contracts when they have booked for a shorter period; thusly, I advise a consultation with me to discuss realistic expectations for how long you will require care.
-
It's best to contact me as early as possible to ensure availability, especially if you would like to guarantee services on/around your EDD. As a highly sought out newborn care specialist, I tend to book up 6+ months in advance. However, I will do my best to accommodate last-minute requests whenever possible.
-
A Newborn Care Specialist is highly trained specifically in all aspects of newborn care and will have many years of experience with families during the first few months with a newborn. They will be able to help parents feel confident in their own care of their precious newborn and will be familiar with common issues, such as reflux, and have proven solutions and resources to help.
A Night Nanny, on the other hand, typically doesn’t process additional training, education, and knowledge in newborn care, feeding, and development beyond basic knowledge, and they offer more “basic” baby care, with no extra assistance in establishing healthy sleep habits, feeding support, and parent education.
In summary, a Newborn Care Specialist provides broader, specialized support, while a Night Nanny offers more basic baby care.
Note: Many Newborn Care Specialists (NCS) and Postpartum Doulas offering overnight care may also use the title "night nanny." When seeking experienced, educated, and professional overnight support, it is important to confirm whether your night nanny has specialized training and credentials pertinent to newborn care.

No, not unless that is your preference! If you are exclusively breastfeeding, I will bring your baby to you for night feeds and gently wake you to feed your baby.
If you’d prefer to be alone while nursing, I can assist with getting you water or a snack, or handling baby-related duties. Once baby is done feeding, I will bring baby back to the nursery to burp, change, and settle baby back to sleep to maximize your rest between nursing sessions.
-
Yes, with a “listening ear”. The rest your night nanny gets while at your home is not restful, hard sleep. When your baby wakes, your night nanny will be right there to comfort and care for them throughout the night.
-
Absolutely! If you have travel plans during my contracted period—whether for business trips, vacations, or visits to secondary residences—I will accompany your family. You can choose from overnight-only coverage while traveling, daytime support, or 24-hour care, with 24-hour care being the most popular option.
I have extensive experience traveling with families both domestically and internationally, as well as to secondary residences. This includes private air and sea travel.
Travel fees apply.

A pillow, blanket and either a bed or couch in or near your baby’s nursery. A chair is not an acceptable place for your doula/NCS to rest.

A newborn care specialist is a trained professional who provides expert support and care for newborns and their families during the critical postpartum period. They assist with infant care routines, feeding, sleep patterns, and offer guidance to parents to ensure a smooth transition into parenthood. Their services often include overnight care, breastfeeding support, and education on newborn needs, helping families adjust and thrive during the early weeks and months.
-
A Newborn Care Specialist and a Postpartum Doula both play essential roles in supporting families during the postpartum period, but they have distinct areas of focus and responsibilities.
While there is some overlap, the primary difference lies in their scope of focus: a Newborn Care Specialist specializes in the direct care of the newborn, while a Postpartum Doula provides more comprehensive support to the entire family, including the emotional, physical, and informational aspects of the postpartum experience. The choice between the two often depends on the specific needs and preferences of the family during this transformative period.
