TAMPA POSTPARTUM DOULA & NEWBORN CARE SPECIALIST
Frequently Asked Questions
-
It's best to contact me as early as possible to ensure availability, especially if you would like to guarantee services on/around your EDD. As a highly sought out newborn care specialist, I tend to book up 6+ months in advance, and up to 12 months in advance at times. However, I always do my best to accommodate last-minute requests whenever possible. I book on a first come first serve basis, in that I do not hold my availability until a contract is signed and the retainer for services is paid.

Yes, with a “listening ear”. The rest your specialist gets while at your home is not restful, hard sleep. When your baby wakes, your specialist will be right there to comfort and care for them throughout the night.

No, not unless that is your preference. If you are exclusively breastfeeding, I will bring your baby to you for night feeds and gently wake you to feed your baby.
While you nurse, I can either stay in the room or step out - this is completely your choice. Some moms appreciate having me nearby to keep them company, make sure they don’t accidentally fall asleep while nursing, or for positioning/latch support (especially in those early weeks). If you’d prefer to be alone while nursing, I can assist with getting you water or a snack, or handling baby-related duties.
Once baby is done feeding, I will bring baby back to the nursery to burp, change, and settle baby back to sleep to maximize your rest between nursing sessions. -
I am here to promote bonding, healing, and a good start in the fourth trimester. I don’t take the place of anyone! I enhance your experience and show family members and friends how to care for you and your baby in ways that will help you all get as much enjoyment, nourishment, and rest as possible. I’m attuned to your specific needs, can help your family better understand your needs, and provide hands-on guidance and education. Many of the families I work with have said that having me there helped them feel more confident setting and sticking to boundaries they set for themselves and their babies.

A pillow, blanket and either a bed or couch in or near your baby’s nursery. A chair is not an acceptable place for your doula/NCS to rest.
